Anesthesia Sr Coding Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
• Medical Record Analysis:
• Analyzing complex medical records to extract relevant information.
• Interpreting physician notes, laboratory results, and other clinical documentation.
• Code Assignment:
• Assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations (e.g., CMS, HIPAA).
• Quality Assurance:
• Conducting audits to ensure coding accuracy and completeness.
• Identifying and resolving coding discrepancies.
• Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge:
• Staying up-to-date on coding changes and regulatory updates.
• Ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
• Education and Mentorship:
• Providing guidance and training to junior coding staff.
• Serving as a resource for coding-related questions.
• Documentation Improvement:
• Working with physicians and other healthcare providers to improve the quality of medical documentation.
• Initiating physician queries when documentation is unclear or incomplete.
• Data Analysis:
• Analyzing coding data to identify trends and patterns.
• Generating reports for management review.

Essential Qualifications:
• Education:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification:
• Professional coding certifications such as Certified Coding Professional (CPC)
• Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of professional or hospital coding required with one- year surgical coding experience
• Knowledge:
• In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
• Expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Understanding of healthcare billing and reimbursement processes
