Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia.
There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. We seek a Client Services Representative to serve as the primary liaison between Food & Friends and its clients for all meal service and delivery matters. The Representative will: answer phone calls from clients pertaining to service and delivery; update client database and maintain files; work with clients, community providers, and representatives of program service departments to resolve problems and address concerns; ensure that all program service departments have the most recent client data available; make calls to discontinued clients for updates pertaining to resumption of service;.
and complete administrative duties related to client service initiation. This is an outstanding entry-level opportunity for a professional seeking experience in social services or nonprofit work. Must be willing to work on-site.
This is a Tuesday thru Saturday position. The successful candidate will have a BA/BS or equivalent experience, demonstrated interest in nonprofit work or social services, excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and an appreciation for diversity. Knowledge of issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS and/or cancer is desirable; Spanish language skills a plus.
Must be willing to work some holidays. Offer of employment contingent upon a pre-employment drug test and proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (exemption from vaccination requirement will be considered for disability or a sincerely held religious belief, practice, or observance).
