Position Overview:
The Electrical Test Technician will be responsible for conducting comprehensive testing of electrical switchboards and power distribution equipment to ensure compliance with UL standards and customer specifications. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining product integrity and safety.
Location: Hanover, MD
Key Responsibilities:
• Testing: Perform electrical testing on switchboards including dielectric testing, mechanical operation verification, and control wiring validation. Execute quality control inspections according to UL 891 and NEC standards.
• Documentation: Accurately record inspection results, test data, and any quality-related findings. Maintain detailed reports for use by management and for compliance purposes.
• Process Monitoring: Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and adherence to approved specifications. Identify potential issues and deviations early in the process.
• Compliance: Ensure that all products and processes comply with internal quality standards, as well as applicable industry regulations and certifications.
• Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve quality issues by collaborating with production and engineering teams and identifying root causes. Recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, suggesting process adjustments to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
• Calibration: Ensure all testing and inspection equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
• Safety: Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
• Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, quality team, and engineers
Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Education:
• Associate degree in electrical technology; bachelor's degree preferred
• Certifications: NETA or similar electrical testing certifications.
• Technical Skilles, Knowledge & Experience Required:
• At least 2 years of testing industrial electrical equipment, using equipment including Megger, Hi-pot testers, and multimeters.
• Proficient knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component and experience with UL 891 and NEC
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of quality control processes and techniques.
• Familiarity with inspection tools (dimension, torque, dielectric testing, insulation, testing equipment).
• Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, Wiring Diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical theory and power distribution systems. Knowledge of NFPA 70E requirements preferred.
• Physical Requirements:
• Extensive standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
• Reaching at or above shoulder level
• Gripping and using hands to handle and feel.
• Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 60+ pounds.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally for field support
• Competencies
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in inspection and testing procedures.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues effectively.
• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly report findings and collaborate with teams.
