About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Relief Master to join our Ship Operations team at Oregon State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for serving as Master of the vessel at sea, navigating using visual and electronic means, maneuvering the vessel, maintaining the vessel's log, and operating vessel equipment. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as Master of the vessel at sea by navigating using visual and electronic means
• Maneuver the vessel as necessary to conduct oceanographic work
• Maintain the vessel's log and operate vessel equipment
• Plan and coordinate scientific operations on the vessel
• Supervise one regular classified position and intermittent relief classified workers
