Shipping Manager

Summary

Schedule and dispatch trailers, service vehicles, and product at all hours. Duties may include using radio, telephone, or computer to transmit assignments and compiling statistics and reports.

Primary responsibilities

• 
  Schedule and dispatch trailers and service vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using radios or telephones.
• 
  Arrange for necessary repairs in order to restore service and schedules.
• 
  Relay work orders, messages, and information to or from work crews, supervisors, and field inspectors using telephones or two-way radios.
• 
  Confer with customers or supervising personnel in order to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.
• 
  Prepare daily work and run schedules.
• 
  Receive or prepare work orders.
• 
  Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
• 
  Be willing to cross train in other departments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• 
  The ability to lift, bend, climb, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs
• 
  Work outside all day in heat or cold
• 
  Exposure to fumes, vibrations, and noise levels
• 
  Must answer phone calls at all hours
• 
  The ability to work 8 to 12 hour shifts
• 
  Be able to work weekends.
