  • Maintains and applies state-of-the-art engineering knowledge.
  • Evaluates and integrates relevant engineering advances for improving or solving problems. Understands the business implications of assigned products and processes and identifies engineering solutions compatible with business needs
  • Creates comprehensive project plans, budgets and strategies for assigned projects. Translates project plans into measurable actions and executes against local plant procedures and processes.
  • Maintains the Manufacturing area equipment in compliance with the calibration and maintenance programs. 
  • Participates in the internal EHS and Quality audits.
  • Completes Change Management user requirement specifications (URS) associated to standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment-facilities-utilities (EFU) qualifications, Engineering Project Requests (EPRs), Capital Project Support and Systems as needed in a timely manner or as required by business needs. Completes Change management initiation and review as needed.
  • Directs the work of team members on the project and may coordinate outside resources for projects.
  • Presents results of projects both internally and externally.
  • Develops productive collaborations and communication with other groups, across scientific disciplines, and with scientists outside of AbbVie. Uses an external information network to gain competitive intelligence.
  • Responsible for timely project completion. Designs experiments and documentation independently. May supervise interns and/or EPDP engineers. May act as lead engineer, project leader, or project contributor. Provides technical direction and feedback to others.

  • BS in Engineering or related field with 8-10 years of experience
  • MS in Engineering or related field with 6-8 years of experience
  • PhD in Engineering or related field with 2-5 years of experience
  • Candidates must be very familiar with the lab environment and in production support.
  • Experience in Automation and Computerized Systems a plus (PLC, SCADA, DCS)
  • Experience in Engineering of Bioprocess Equipment a plus (Fermenters, UF/DF, Chromatography, etc.)
  • Experience in Engineering of Plant Equipment a plus (Utilities, Autoclave, Glasswasher, AHU, etc.)
