Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) advances the Mission and Values of Community Human Services
(CHS) by building, fostering, and inspiring excellence in the Agency's ability to:
Serve as the leading resource for homeless support, information, and best practices and protocols in Southwestern PA
Provide exceptional and compassionate social support services
Integrate the voice of consumers with program quality initiatives and services
Collaborate with and act as a resource for other organizations, providers, and professionals locally and nationally
Embrace and exhibit the highest ethical standards
Maximize and monitor fiscal and other resources
Build an environment which is safe, confidential, and welcoming
Eliminate the devastating impact of stigma through cultural awareness and advocacy
As part of CHS' Executive Team, the CFO is responsible for formulating strategic and operational goals designed to govern all aspects of the accounting, financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities, as well as translating the Mission and Values into actionable objectives specific to area of expertise.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of the accounting, financial planning, financial reporting, budgeting, procurement, information technology and investment activities.
In conjunction with CHS Leadership, establish and implement financial related strategic initiatives.
Oversee the organization's internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Prepare financial information for presentation and discussion with the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
Arrange for and coordinate external audits of CHS's financial statements and required tax filings to ensure compliance with programmatic, state, and federal requirements and statutes.
Negotiate or approve contracts or agreements with suppliers, distributors, federal or state agencies, and other organizational entities.
Monitor compliance with all laws and standards associated with services and contracts.
Develop and maintain relationships with key financial funders and partners.
Maintain all key banking relationships and activities.
Maintain all key insurance relationships and activities.
Ensure that proper accounting for and monitoring of restricted funds received.
Analyze financial results in each CHS key program area and communicate those results to among CHS programmatic team members.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Through a combination of experience and education, the CFO will have:
Leadership in an organization similar in size, scope, and scale of impact as CHS.
Commitment to CHS' mission and values.
Interpersonal skills including the ability to motivate, negotiate, educate, influence, and persuade stakeholders, consumers, and collaborators.
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
Oversight of multi-million-dollar budget.
Excellent communication skills across multiple disciplines and platforms.
Expertise with accounting software, preferably Blackbaud.
Ability to integrate strategic and operational goals across an organization
Scanned legislative, economic, regulatory, local, regional, national, trends to identify opportunities for innovation and fiscal improvements
Fiscal planning and administration of multiple funding and revenue sources
A Master's degree OR relevant work experience with the associated responsibilities is required. An
MBA or a master's degree associated with financial, or business program of study is preferred. A minimum of ten years in an organizational leadership role is also preferred.
Current PA child abuse, PA criminal history and Federal criminal history clearances, are required within the first 30 days of employment.
Position Physical Demands:
The CFO will be called upon to engage in physical activity related to general office work, including the capacity to lift up to 15lbs and stand or sit for extended periods.
