Director of Accounting

Compensation: Flexible depending on experience


Title: Flexible depending on experience (e.g., Director of Accounting Services, Managing Director of Accounting Services, etc.)


Position Objective:


The Director of Accounting [Director] will handle various accounting matters and supervise accounting and bookkeeping work for client accounts. The Director will follow procedures for standard accounting tasks and projects such as beneficiary reporting, preparation of financial statements, determining account asset values, and coordinating the preparation of tax returns and other governmental filings. The Director will interface directly with clients’ advisers to carry out various requests, as well as coordinate internally on a regular basis with Account Managers and client service team members. In her/his role, the Director will ensure that all high priority matters are attended to the same day or within 24 hours of when the matters arise, and also that the matters are handled to completion within 24 hours (if feasible) or otherwise in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will be a perfectionist who takes pride in providing the impeccable service that the company commits to provide to all clients. Primary Responsibilities:



  • Reconcile investment account statements and bank account statements for trust clients.

  • Update valuation information for trust assets.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements for trusts.

  • Oversee annual beneficiary reporting for trusts.

  • Assist with any financial statement issues that arise.

  • Coordinate with tax compliance team to assure timely transfer of information to outside CPA firms (tax return preparers).

  • Prepare special reports for management team and clients.


Secondary Responsibilities:



  • Draft internal memos, charts, and instructions for various tasks and procedures.

  • Assign tasks to others and supervise as needed.

  • Handle special projects as needed.

  • Assist with billing-related matters.


Supervisors:


Primary: Management Team.


Secondary: General Counsel.


Supervisory Responsibility:


Accountants, accounting assistants and administrative assistants.


Qualifications:


Experience:


18 years in a private setting.


Bonus Qualifications (these are NOT required):


Experience: 8 years in financial services or a closely related field (e.g. law, consulting, real estate, etc.)


Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.


Required Skills:



  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Dynamics 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Expert in Quickbooks.

  • Expert in tax filings and general tax matters.

  • Superb attention to detail.

  • Ability to think critically and reason with respect to business, financial and organizational matters.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient business writing.

  • Independent worker.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize.


Bonus skills (these are NOT required):


Fluency in at least oneof the following languages: German, Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin.


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
