About the position
The Quality Data Abstractor at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health is a pivotal role responsible for the planning and implementation of the quality data management program tailored to meet the needs of the MCNDH facilities. This position is integral to ensuring that the healthcare services provided are compliant with regulatory standards and that there is a continuous state of readiness for any regulatory visits. The Quality Data Abstractor will serve as a resource for the administrative team, department managers, and medical staff, providing education and guidance on quality data management practices. In this role, the Quality Data Abstractor will be tasked with clinical identification, risk evaluation, and the coordination of corrective actions related to data issues. This includes ensuring that leadership is kept informed about current compliance statuses and ongoing activities. The position is based at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Medical Center in Okmulgee, OK, and the Council Oak Comprehensive Healthcare in Tulsa, OK, and requires collaboration with various departments to enhance the quality of care provided to patients. The Quality Data Abstractor will also be responsible for abstracting data from electronic medical records, submitting quarterly and annual data for government programs, and monitoring the performance of government quality measures. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying trends in healthcare quality improvement and incorporating these insights into the planning and development of improvement initiatives. The Quality Data Abstractor will maintain current knowledge of government quality programs and ensure that the organization is compliant with all relevant regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
• Plan and implement the quality data management program for MCNDH facilities.

• Provide education to medical and facility staff regarding quality data management.

• Act as a resource for the administrative team, department managers, and medical staff.

• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain a continuous state of readiness for regulatory visits.

• Assist in the collection of information during regulatory visits to ensure accurate documentation.
,
• Conduct clinical identification, risk evaluation, and coordinate corrective actions related to data issues.
,
• Keep leadership informed about current compliance and ongoing activities.
,
• Abstract data from electronic medical records for government quality measures.
,
• Submit quarterly and annual data for required government programs accurately and thoroughly.
,
• Collaborate with key departments on electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs).
,
• Monitor performance of government quality measures and work with stakeholders on analysis and improvement.
,
• Identify trends in healthcare quality improvement and incorporate them into planning initiatives.
,
• Maintain knowledge of government quality programs and ensure compliance with regulations.
,
• Champion understanding of government pay-for-performance programs.
,
• Perform clinical reviews for data analysis as necessary.
,
• Utilize quality improvement techniques to enhance customer care and clinical outcomes.

• Provide recommendations based on data analysis as a subject matter expert.

• Review past and present quality data to suggest corrective action plans.

• Accept other duties as assigned to promote organizational goals.

• Demonstrate proficiency in required skills and maintain skill proficiency as necessary.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a Health or Nursing related field is required.

• Minimum of five (5) years related experience in health management positions preferred.
,
• Demonstrated clinical and administrative skills are necessary.
,
• Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing with 1-3 years of experience in chart abstraction preferred.

• Experience with Epic and proficiency in managing an electronic medical record platform.
