About the position
The Beaverton School District is seeking applications for the position of Secondary Deployable Contracted Substitute Teacher for the Human Resources department for the 2023-2024 School Year. This role is designed for educators who are ready to engage with students across various middle and high school settings (grades 6-12) on a full-time basis. The selected candidates will work under a temporary contract for 174 days, with the possibility of prorated days depending on the hire date. Unlike traditional substitute teaching roles where teachers can select their days and locations, this position requires flexibility and readiness to teach in any assignment, including both general education and special education settings. Secondary Deployable Contracted Substitute Teachers will be strategically placed by Human Resources each day to address substitute shortages in impacted schools. This means that the assignments will vary daily, and teachers must be prepared to adapt to different classroom environments and student needs. The role emphasizes a student-centered approach to teaching, requiring dependability and the ability to think on one's feet. The Beaverton School District is committed to fostering a sense of belonging and inspiring all students to achieve their goals and graduate prepared for life after high school. Compensation for this position includes a premium rate of 5% over the standard daily rate for substitute teachers, with pay evenly distributed from the start date through August. Additionally, employees will receive Kaiser insurance coverage, with the option to add dependents at their own cost. Each employee will earn one sick day per month and will be granted one emergency day per year.
