    Position: Technology Support Technician -Harbor Lights Middle School

    Posting Dates: September 9, 2022 – Until Filled

    Reports To: Technology Director

    Beginning: August 2022

    Hours: 40 hours per week



    Summary:



    • Under the direction of the Technology Director, the Technology Support Technician is responsible for basic computer, application, Chromebook support. The candidate will install, maintain, and repair computer devices, peripherals, and printers. The position will inspect, test, diagnose and repair/replace computer hardware. They will provide basic application support (including Microsoft Office) and basic LAN troubleshooting. Duties will also include supporting multimedia equipment such as data projectors and classroom audio systems.

    Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities:

    • Focus on maintaining quality customer service to end users which includes responding to work request in a kind, courteous and professional manner.

    • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain district computers, printers and peripherals

    • Provide basic operating system and application support for end users on common software platforms that are used across the district

    • Provide basic network support to troubleshoot network related problems and escalate as appropriate

    • Respond quickly to technical work requests ensuring that end user issues are addressed in an efficient manner

    • Organize time and tasks in a manner that allows for efficient and effective service

    • Support instructional technology and multimedia equipment including document cameras, audio systems and data projectors

    • Assist with the tracking and inventory of technical assets to ensure software licensing compliance

    • Work as a team with other technicians

    • Assist with technology planning through ongoing research

    • Follow guidelines and adhere to systems prescribed by the Technology Director

    • Keep the Technology Director informed of projects and problems as appropriate

    • Other Technology related tasks as assigned by the Technology Director

    Qualifications:

    • Education – IT industry certification (i.e. CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.) or pursuing a degree in an information Technology (IT) related area (or equivalent experience)

    • Experience – At least one year of experience in IT support or related field. Experience working in a school environment preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    • None Required

    Other knowledge, skills and abilities:

    • Up to date knowledge in the following areas:

      a. Computer Hardware

      b. Operating Systems (Windows and ChromeOS)

      c. Printers

      d. Computer Peripherals (i.e. scanners, digital cameras, etc.)

      e. Basic networking technologies and concepts

      f. Common applications (i.e. Microsoft Office products)

    • Security related technologies (antivirus, antispyware, etc.)

    • Strong customer service skills

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and act as mentor as needed

    • Patience when working with end users

    • Experience with imaging workstations

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    • Tasks involve moderate physical work including lifting/carrying equipment

    • Must be able to learn skills quickly

    • Ability to multitask and proactively meet team member needs

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

    • Regularly move about inside the office and buildings to access equipment

    • Occasionally positions self to maintain computers in a lab or classroom, including under the desks and in the server room.

    • Occasionally moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.




    Work Environment

    • Normal office environment. It is also anticipated that some stress will be associated with this position primarily due to deadlines and irregular workflow. It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful




    Travel

    • The employee will be expected to regularly travel between all district building locations
