Garden Manager Position Available, Hillsborough/Burlingame/San Francisco/Piedmont

Hours: 30+ hrs/wk, 5 days/week

Pay: $25-35+, Based on Experience

Wild Natives is looking for a horticulturally trained fine gardener to join our team. You will primarily be working in gardens located in Hillsborough, Burlingame, San Francisco and Piedmont. Our ideal candidate is located within a 30 minute commute and is willing to commit to at least 2 years with our company.

You must have 2+ years gardening field experience. You must have your own vehicle and tools. You must be able to perform garden-related heavy labor tasks for extended periods of time, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. You will be in charge of managing small to medium sized gardens with the potential to move into management of our larger estate gardens more long term.

Preference will be given to gardeners with:

Experience with pruning a wide variety of plants

Experience with vegetables and/or native plants

Experience installing, programming, and retrofitting irrigation systems

Dependability and a professional manner with clients and staff

A friendly and easy-going disposition

Experience managing staff

Experience managing projects

Well-versed in plant identification

Knowledge of proper horticultural practices

Tasks include, but are not limited to: Overseeing all management of gardens, planning and carrying out of garden tasks, managing staff, working directly under the owner’s oversight, project management, purchasing supplies, arranging and accepting deliveries, working with clients and subcontractors directly, general garden maintenance, including: moving mulch, building compost piles, weeding, watering, planting, pruning, plant removal, irrigation installation and retrofitting, general clean up, blowing leaves, raking, sweeping, power washing, trimming hedges and vines, double digging, composting, fertilizing, edging and mowing lawns.
