Welcome to the SLCC Community!!
The Mathematics adjunct faculty member will work with full-time faculty, under general supervision of the Associate Dean, in program and class-related duties such as classroom (including online) instruction, content design and delivery, and student evaluation using sound pedagogy, appropriate mathematical standards, and as needed, technology.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Meets the SLCC Math Department’s protocols and standards in teaching
• Provides students and the Math Department with a course syllabus
• Provides ADA accommodations as requested
• Maintains a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment
• Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance
• Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments
• Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards
• Informs students of progress by keeping up-to-date grades in the college LMS
• Communicates collectively and/or individually with students regarding course management
• Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1‐2 business days)
• Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades
• Follows Math Department and College guidelines to assign and submits grades by published deadlines
• Submits graded final exams to the Math Department at the end of the semester
• Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines
• Prepares and submits incident reports as needed to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy
• Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization
• Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators
• Maintains professional and collegial behavior
• Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure
• Completes all required employee training
• Continues to improve teaching and student learning through departmental professional development

Ensures student learning through maintaining SLCC’s Math Department standards of teaching.
All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences.
All SLCC employees must maintain permanent residence/address within the State of Utah to maintain employment. A permanent Utah address must be recorded to Human Resources within 30-days of your employment start date.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Masters Degree Math Education or a closely related field to Mathematics.
18 semester credit hours of course work in mathematics where calculus II is a pre-requisite course.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Requirements:
Masters in Mathematics
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
KSA’s:
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic,
cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities
Knowledge of mathematical pedagogies and relevant mathematical topics.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions
This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States.

1) In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester-by-semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment.
2) Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within in 30 days of hire.
3) In accordance with Board of Regents policy, SLCC’s Human Resources will conduct a criminal background check on instructors if concurrent enrollment (K-12) students are assigned to classes.
