Covenant Case Management is seeking a LPN or RN for Respite Nursing.
Major Responsibilities Under Nursing Respite Care (NC Innovations Waiver) Primary Responsibility: Nursing Respite caregivers allow other caregivers the opportunity to take a break from the duties and responsibilities of caring for a loved one with exceptional medical needs that may require nursing interventions. When caring for someone with exceptional medical needs, it's important for the primary caregiver to occasionally take time off to rest and rejuvenate. This is where nursing respite caregivers are most valued. The Respite Care Nurse not only provides emotional support to the primary caregiver but address any clinical care issues for individuals with exceptional or advanced medical needs that cannot be provided by unqualified staff. Nursing Respite Care provides the peace-of-mind needed by the primary caregiver to rest and recuperation, knowing their loved ones are receiving the highest quality of care. As a member of the direct support staff, the Respite Care Nurse must display a high level of professionalism in their attitude, appearance, and nursing skills at all times. The Respite Care Nurse is expected to be self-directed, self motivated, and knowledgeable in the field of nursing. Therefore, the Respite Care Nurse must be approachable, comfortable, and sincere in relationships with individuals, families, treatment teams, and medical team (if needed) as well as with the assigned supervisor. While the well-being of the individuals we serve is always our greatest concern, clinical documentation is the most important priority due to its legal status. The Respite Care Nurse must be fully aware of and knowledgeable with appropriate documentation standards, client rights, personal health information (PHI) confidentiality, and HIPAA rules/ regulations.
Essential job duties: General Responsibilities/Pre-Care Duties: Ensure the individual's safety. Provide reality orientation (if appropriate). Establish a therapeutic relationship with the individual and the family and/or significant other. Use mutual decision making with the individual and the family. Collect general activity participation data (based on individual’s preference assessment) Assess the individual's health status. Identify individual’s needs that will require nursing intervention/assistance. Review nursing inventions that may be required with the individual and/or family. Provide health and safety supervision incorporating a required plan of nursing respite care. Evaluate and identify any required service orders for nursing respite care. Communicate with individual and/or family any documentation, equipment, and/or supplies that will need to be secured for appropriate nursing respite care. Specifically: Deliver individual nursing care. Provide for physical and emotional comfort. Provide basic education for the individual and family. Assist individual with activities of daily living. Provide for proper body positioning. Assist individual with active and passive exercises. Administer medications per physician order. Observe, evaluate, and report significant changes in the individual's condition to family, doctor and office. Document all relevant findings. Plan, prepare, and serve therapeutic diets to the individual. Maintain clean environment for client; clean-up food and cooking areas. Maintain and safeguard equipment and supplies of individual.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Graduation from an approved nursing school. Valid Nursing License in North Carolina. At least one-year recent clinical experience (preferably with I/DD population) Valid Driver’s License. Supervision under an RN is preferred/Skills Required: Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and Google Suites) Basic understanding of State I/DD and NC Innovations Waiver Services/Funding (preferred) High organization skills Good Time management skills Self-disciplined Good Communication Skills (written and verbal) Equipment Documentation (Short-Term Goal Data Logs, Medical Data Logs, Medication Administration Record (MAR), etc.) Diagnostic Equipment for Vitals Access to vehicle with appropriate automobile insurance coverage (if needed) Credential, Certification & Experience. The following training must be completed and recertified, when required. CPR/First Aide HIPAA/Client Rights Training Seizure Training “Getting It Right” (or other DHHS-approved behavior intervention training) Some on the job training required Some experience working with I/DD, Autism Disorder, and/or TBI (preferred, but not required) Familiarity with NC Innovations Waiver (preferred, but not required)
Salary Range $25.00 - $30.00 (hourly)/**70% reimbursement from Specified MCO
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Travel nursing
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
