  • ​This job is a member of the Air Traffic Management (ATM) Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • ​Responsible for promoting American's strategies for safety, cost efficiencies and network improvements world-wide via constructive collaboration with Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), Airport Operators, Industry groups and appropriate departments within American Airlines.
What you'll do
  • Leverages Air Traffic Control and airline/airport operations expertise to support AA network reliability, predictability and efficiency goals in the areas of Airfield and Surface Operations, Airspace and route efficiency, capacity enhancements, expansion and construction, Air Traffic safety, and diversion handling and diversion recovery processes
  • Communicates and resolves matters involving Air Traffic Control (ATC) with AA Flight Operations
  • Responsible for working closely with AA Airport Affairs and Corporate Real Estate (CRE) to ensure airport decisions are made with an understanding of/consider for ATM/airport surface traffic flow impacts
  • Works closely with AA OPP and Network Planning (NP) to ensure planned schedule change decisions are made with an understanding of/consider for ATM/airport surface traffic flow impacts
  • Reviews ATC system efficiency on a daily basis to ensure airspace operate at maximum capacity
  • Participates in FAA Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) and New Entrant enhancements activities and working groups as assigned including, NACSC, NACSC NIWG and DAC and Commercial Space WG
  • Participates in FAA Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) activities and appropriate working groups and in Customer Forums for all AA hubs and En-route or terminal areas
  • Participates in FAA Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) programs for all AA Gateway ad Hub airports
  • Participates in airspace redesign efforts at locations where AA has a significant operational presence
  • Participates in Gateway/Hub airport and FAA delay reduction meetings
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's degree in business, aviation of technical field related to airline and/or ATC operations, or equivalent professional experience
  • 12+ years of FAR 121 Dispatch and/or Air Traffic Control and/or Airport Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • ​Proven, exceptional ability to build and foster strong relationships at all levels across business partners' organizations
  • Exceptional understanding of and participation in industry forums whereby operators influence ATC modernization plans of the FAA and international ANSPs, including but not limited to A4A, ACI, AOPA, CDM, IATA, ICAO, and NBAA
  • Excellent understanding of the function of key FAA automation systems, including but not limited to ATOP, ERAM, TBFM, TFDM, and TFMS
  • Exceptional understanding of NextGen airspace technologies including ADS-B In, ADS-B Out, PBN, RNP/RNAV, Space-Based ADS-B, etc.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and expectations in a high volume, fast paced operational environment
  • Outstanding time management skills with ability to multitask and efficiently balance workload including planning, organizing and providing leadership for a variety of assignments in parallel
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capability
  • Outstanding ability to use sound judgment, takes initiative and be accountable for making decisions
  • Ability to "cross cover" peer ATMs regions as required from time to time (determined by the Director, Air Traffic Management and Airfield Operations)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to adapt to multi-cultural, international sensitivities
