Job Description:
If you are skilled in Spanish, Persian-Farsi, Pashto-Afghani, Arabic, Ukrainian, French, Haitian Creole, Somali or Hindi, and can communicate effectively, the FBI believes you could be an ideal candidate for the position of a contract linguist. The bureau is involved in investigating an array of crimes including terrorism, espionage, human trafficking and cybercrime, among others. The valuable services of contract linguists are integral in the FBI pursuit of justice and the safeguarding of US citizens.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transform materials that are originally in a foreign language into English, which can be in written or audio form.
- Accurate interpretation during interviews, training sessions, or visits from foreign dignitaries helps to ensure that all parties involved are able to effectively communicate and convey their message.
- My understanding of cultural nuances can help to bridge any communication gaps that may arise during investigations, thereby facilitating a more productive outcome.
- Describe the technology and tools used to facilitate the translation process.
- Provide assistance to intelligence officers on conducting diverse interviews.
- The place of work will be a field office, but there may be cases where travel to other field offices or legal attachs is necessary to assist with ongoing cases.
Key Requirments:
To be deemed eligible for the contract linguist opportunity, specific conditions must be met:
- The FBI's Foreign Language Test Battery necessitates attaining qualifying grades that exhibit your language mastery.
- The eligibility criterion demands that the individual must be a native of the United States.
- An obligatory condition is the achievability of Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
- Ready to undertake travel obligations as needed.
