SENIOR ACCOUNTING MANAGER


A large family owned distribution business seeks Senior Accounting Manager in Pittsburgh, PA.


The Senior Accounting Manager will manage the accounting team in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department. This position is critical to the financial management, reporting and oversight of all accounting operations.


The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for, amongst other duties, preparing monthly financial statements, overseeing all accounts payable functions, monitoring and processing payroll, reconciling all balance sheet accounts, maintaining financial reporting system integrity and working in conjunction with outside accounting firm and the President of company. This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including all general ledger functions, fixed asset tracking and financial reporting.


Position reports to the President but interacts with all management and staff at all levels. The objective of this role is to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, implementation of internal controls, as well as provision of decision support to the President.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Perform assigned monthly and annual general ledger closing processes

  • Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations including cash

  • Daily cash reporting including deposits, wire transfers and credit card transactions

  • Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and various accruals

  • Review reconciliations of check run to bank file to verify follow-up items

  • General ledger maintenance: making sure all income and expenses have been posted to the correct accounts

  • Adjusting journal entries

  • Ensure monthly accounts payable invoicing is complete, accurate, and paid timely

  • Perform ad hoc finance and business-related projects

  • Financial reporting and close

  • Income Statement and Balance Sheet prep

  • Lead the preparation of 1099’s and maintenance of sales tax exemption certificates

  • Review and process payroll

  • Work closely with external audit firm in preparation of year-end audited reports

  • Facilitates the accounts payable operations by performing review and validation of batches entered to supporting documentation

  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations

  • Collaborate with functional areas and management to resolve issues and support achievement of goals

  • Any other activities related to financial management as assigned


Reporting Relationship

  • This position reports to the President

Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 5+ years of accounting experience

  • Experience with SAGE/MAS100 a plus

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Excel

  • Ability to perform and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality

  • Strong character and integrity

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
