We are currently searching for a UR Collection Specialist-MRI to join our Utilization Review Support team in the OrthoCarolina Business Office in Charlotte.

This position is a hybrid schedule with rotating days in the office depending on department needs.

The UR Collection Specialist-MRI obtains and confirms patient eligibility, benefit verification, prior plan approval and pre-collection for medical services to ensure prompt and accurate payments from patient and insurance company. This role requires vast knowledge of how insurance plans work, on line benefit verification processes, prior plan approval requirements and understanding patient benefits to determine accurate deposit amount. The UR Collection Specialist Identifies and corrects internal problems within assigned accounts to expedite payments from insurance companies. Serves as liaison between patient and insurance companies.

This position has a large volume calling patients and insurance companies and must be comfortable talking to patients regarding financial matters. Duties can include:

  • Obtains eligibility, benefits and prior plan approvals from insurance carriers
  • Pre-collects for medical services
  • Takes patient's calls related to financial accounts
  • Works closely with patients and insurance companies to get accounts paid
  • Answers patient and insurance correspondence
  • Provides insurance company representative with information needed to receive payment on accounts
  • Posts patient payments and/or adjustments to the proper patient account
  • Identifies overpayments on accounts and ensures that refunds are executed promptly
