We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Inpatient Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our GI healthcare team. As an Inpatient Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, you will work at Edward Hospital and play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, conducting thorough assessments, diagnosing and treating various GI conditions, including in hepatology, and collaborating with physicians to optimize patient safety and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including accurate medical history reviews, physical examinations, interpret and integrate findings to determine appropriate diagnostic, educational and therapeutic management plans for individuals with acute and chronic GI illnesses, including liver diseases.
- Accurately synthesize data/information to develop and implement patient care plans independently and in collaboration with healthcare providers.
- Utilize medical terminology accurately in patient documentation and communication. Complete all necessary and required documentation for each patient encounter in timely manner using the subjective, objective, assessment, plan format (S.O.A.P).
- Provide education and resources to patients and their families on health issues, maintenance and disease prevention. Demonstrate ability to build relationships through listening, narrative and nonverbal skills.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities to assure optimum patient care, safety, and self-improvement.
- Demonstrates familiarity with EPIC and data acquisition
- Strong commitment to maintaining HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Compassionate and professional individual with a current Illinois license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (DNP preferred).
- BLS and/or ACLS certification.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Prior NP / PA experience in GI and clinical setting preferred.
- Strong fundamental knowledge, clinical understanding and critical thinking on adult GI health and related diagnostic and treatment modalities.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication, organizational, leadership skills; have an ability to analyze, plan and coordinate medical care while making appropriate medical decisions in timely manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment to prevent delays in care coordination.
