Role Title: Industrial Internet of Things Architect

Client: Manufacturing Company

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: 6 months with chance of extension


Role Description:

Join our innovative team as an Industrial Internet of Things Architect, where you will play a key role in driving the strategic planning, architecture, and governance for IIoT within manufacturing operations. You will lead efforts to integrate IIoT with MES, cloud, and enterprise systems, facilitating data-driven automation, predictive maintenance, and operational intelligence.


Strategy & Roadmap:

Develop comprehensive IIoT strategies and phased roadmaps that align with digital transformation objectives. Define key performance indicators to ensure tangible business value from IIoT initiatives.


Standards & Governance:

Establish and implement standards for IIoT connectivity, device management, data security, and compliance with industry standards like NIST, ISA-95, and IEC 62443.


Data Architecture & Analytics:

Design scalable data frameworks utilizing Azure and optimal real-time processing tools. Enable AI/ML for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and dynamic manufacturing workflows.


Predictive & Autonomous Manufacturing:

Leverage IIoT technologies for condition-based maintenance and real-time optimization of production processes through intelligent automation.


Cross-Functional Leadership:

Collaborate effectively with IT, OT, data science, and operations teams. Manage partnerships with vendors and provide insights to leadership on IIoT maturity and return on investment.


Security & Compliance:

Implement secure architectures, access controls, and device lifecycle policies to ensure seamless OT/IT convergence following industry best practices.


Requirements:

  • Expertise in IIoT and Industrial Connectivity
  • In-depth knowledge of IIoT architectures, including edge computing, sensor networks, and industrial protocols
  • Strong understanding of protocols like OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, and real-time streaming frameworks
  • Experience in designing connected factory environments and facilitating real-time process visibility
  • Strong grasp of Operations Technology Systems, including PLCs, tag data, historians, and HMIs
  • Familiarity with AVEVA and Induction is a plus


Cloud & Big Data:

Proficiency in Azure or GCP, including Azure IoT Suite, Data Factory, Synapse, Kafka, and real-time data processing


AI/ML:

Experience with predictive models and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Azure ML


Cybersecurity:

Knowledge of ISA/IEC 62443, NIST CSF, and secure IIoT architectures, incorporating the Purdue Model
