The Mechanical Design Engineer will engineer and design lifting devices to given specifications that will solve a customer’s unique problem while instilling confidence and comfort in the customer that the device can safely and repeatedly complete its designated task without failure.


Responsibilities


  • Review technical documentation and data from customer and outside sales representatives to determine if all required information is available to adequately design the lifting device

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, outside sales representative, and cross-departmental team members throughout the entire project

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for outside sales representatives in need of technical information

  • Participate in weekly engineering and production meetings and provide support as necessary

  • Manage multiple projects from concept thru completion including, but not limited to, engineering design, Approval and Manufacturing drawings and technical guidance during fabrication and assembly

  • Utilize Solidworks to create 3D CAD Models and drawings complete with detailed dimensional and BOM information

  • Update and revise drawings as required to meet both functional requirements and customer needs

  • Organize project files and materials for proper documentation of each job

  • Knowledge of Strength of Materials allow for safe design of lifting equipment

  • Design creative, robust, and balanced products that will properly accommodate each customer’s specification

  • Allow for adaptation and change as the customer’s needs change

  • Perform necessary structural calculations required to design Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices in accordance with ASME BTH-1-2011 and ASME B30.20

  • Other duties as assigned by management

    • Qualifications


    Education


    A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering, or related discipline is required; in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in an engineering role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement


    Experience & Skills



    • Solidworks design experience required

    • Knowledge of strength of materials properties

    • Excellent organizational skills

    • Comfortable in a team-based work environment

    • Solid written and verbal communication skills (Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization)

    • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills

    • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office)

    • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task

    • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
