Summary
Compile data and prepare invoices, bill appropriate payor and follow up on accounts for timely payment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Knowledge of insurance, especially Medicare rules and guidelines.
- Utilize a combination of electronic health record and paper patient records to perform billing duties, maintain an accurate, legally compliant medical record.
- Perform data entry of daily transactions.
- Review insurance payments for accuracy and post to appropriate accounts.
- Review denials or partially paid claims and work with the involved to resolve the discrepancy.
- Manage assigned accounts ensuring outstanding/pending claims are paid in a timely manner and contact appropriate parties to collect payment.
- Communicate with health care providers, patients, insurance claim representatives and other parties to clarify billing issues and finalize timely payments.
- Consult supervisor and appropriate resources to solve billing questions and issues.
- Maintain work operations and quality by following standards, policies, and procedures escalating compliance and complaint issues to supervisor.
- Perform a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to: answering phones, faxing, filing of confidential documents, basic internet and email utilization.
- Provide excellent and professional customer service to internal and external customers.
- Function as contributing team member while meeting deadlines and productivity standards.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations.
- Participate in traditional and e-learning programs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
