We're looking for an outstanding Mechanical Design Engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person must have an interest in thinking about broad problems and the details needed to solve them. We're looking for people who innovate and love solving hard problems! Export Control License
This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
Key job responsibilities
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the detail design of the air vehicle structural components, coordination of engineering efforts with suppliers, and the review of all manufacturing processes. This engineer will be the design authority over the installations in the design and will coordinate the technical development and evaluations of the performance of our structure for our aerial vehicles.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience with aerospace design and manufacturing processes using the CATIA and Enovia or similar design and plm systems.
- Experience working with complex systems
- Experience with systems engineering and deriving requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts and designs to colleagues across disciplines
- Experience in communicating with end users, business teams and management to collect requirements, describe product features and refine technical designs
- Experience with the design of aerospace structure for light weight durable systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with aviation systems that have been successfully deployed at scale
- Experience with FAA certification processes
- Experience with system fault analysis
- Strong physics, optics, aerodynamics, sensing and compute fundamentals
- Experience with developing and evaluating materials and processes for aerospace production
- Experience with the design of aerospace tooling and fixtures for mechanical testing
- Experience with the design of components using complex composite material systems
