The Centre Region Council of Governments, Regional Fire Protection Program, seeks an innovative, collaborative, dynamic, community-minded leader with fire, rescue, and HazMat management and administrative experience for the position of Fire Director/Chief of Department.
Overview:
The Centre Region is located in the heart of Central Pennsylvania and is home to the main campus of the Pennsylvania State University. The department serves approximately 93,000 people in a first due area of 104 square miles. The first-due service area is a mix of urban, suburban, and rural environments.
The Regional Fire Protection Program is comprised of the Alpha Fire Company, a volunteer fire department; career operational and administrative staff; Fire Marshals, focused on fire investigation; the Centre Region HazMat Team, Centre Region Emergency Management, and a collaborative partnership with the Fireman’s Relief Association of State College.
Minimum Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Fire Administration, Fire Science, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
· Minimum 10 years of fire service experience with at least 5 years as a Chief Officer.
· ICS 100, 200, 300; Fire II; and Fire Officer I (ProBoard or IFSAC).
· Ability to pass a physical examination and background checks.
· Ability to mentor, lead, and motivate staff and volunteers.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Experience developing and managing budgets.
· A valid driver’s license and insurability.
Compensation and Benefits:
The starting salary is $87,752 - $118,466 DOQ, with an excellent benefits package.
