The Nurse Education Specialist functions in a point-of-care, hands-on role as a nurse expert, educator, and consultant for assigned departments in the clinical development and education of nursing and other NAH team members. This position provides educational support for organizational safety and improvement initiatives. Nurse Education Specialist works in partnership with leadership to support onboarding, staff development, and promotion of practice excellence. The Nurse Education Specialist also functions to aid in preparation for regulatory and accreditation reviews.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
• Demonstrates and maintains depth and breadth of knowledge, skills, and competence in nursing specialty
• Serves as a consultant for education requests within NAH
• Researches, recommends, and facilitates nursing specialty education for nurse residents, nurse interns, and/or any other program for new to specialty nurses
• Analyzes and validates educational needs and competencies
• Develops and initiates training programs that facilitate achievement of clinical care competency goals
• Participates in the development of standards of practice using the most current evidence
• Implements nursing education processes that enhance knowledge, skills, and attitudes for safe, competent, and effective nursing practice
• Evaluates practice in relation to standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations to achieve professional goals
• Utilizes experience and professional judgment to problem solve, plan, and accomplish goals
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Completes mandatory training requirements
• Meets various age-specific needs
Learning Facilitator
• Utilizes the educational design process to bridge the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through a needs assessment
Change Agent
• Works to transform processes at micro-, meso, and macrosystem levels through inspiration, initiation, adoption, and sustainment of and adaptation to change using project management and improvement processes
Mentor
• Advances the profession by contributing to the professional development of others and supporting lifelong learning as individuals develop across practice, professional, and educational settings
Leader
• Influences the interprofessional practice and learning environments, the profession of nursing, and healthcare
Champion For Inquiry
• Promotes the generation and dissemination of new knowledge and the use of evidence to advance Nurse Professional Development, practice, guide clinical practice, and improve patient care
Partner for Practice Transitions
• Supports the transition of nurses and other healthcare team members across learning and practice environments, roles, and professional stages
Qualifications
Education
Graduate degree or completion date within 3 years if hired after August 1st 2024 (If graduate degree is not in nursing, it must be in a related field and a BSN is required)
BSN within 3 years if hired prior to August 1st 2024 to be completed by July 1st 2027
BSN not required if you have a MSN
Experience
Current RN License
National nurse professional board certification or attainment within 1 year of hire
Certification & Licensures
A minimum of 2 years experience in clinical nursing practice required
