Tribalco is seeking an energetic, customer-service-oriented, problem solver to join our IT team as a Technical Support Specialist based in our Bethesda, Maryland headquarters. In this position, the Technical Support Specialist will respond to requests, reports of problems, or inquiries from staff relating to the operation of computers, peripherals, phones, networking, or other IT equipment. In addition, the successful candidate will determine the nature and extent of problems, diagnose and repair software or hardware problems, diagnose data communications problems, and respond to error messages by applying standard actions for resolution and recommend the need for further action. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify, diagnose, and document hardware failures or software problems on various computers or computer-related equipment, including desktops, laptops, online services, mobile phones, printers, networking, and VTC equipment.

• Provide phone, instant message, email, in-person, and remote-access support to users in offices worldwide.

• Clearly communicate the scope of issues or projects and provide estimates for completion.

• Accurately record equipment shipments, received equipment, inventory, and equipment in repair.

• Setup and deployment of new equipment and software.

• Prepare retired equipment for destruction, recycling, or resale.

• Follow documented processes, provide updates to documentation, and write new documentation or training material when requested.

Set up meetings for executives using Microsoft Teams and Crestron teleconferencing systems.

• Instruct staff in the routine operation and utilization of new software installed on systems.

• Assist in research and evaluation of new hardware and software.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

• Installing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows (Windows 10 and 11) and Windows-based software.

• Troubleshooting computers from the Windows Command Prompt, PowerShell, and working in the Windows Registry.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.

• Strong attention to detail is a must.

• Must be able to communicate effectively using verbal and written English.

• Complete assigned work orders (diagnostics, upgrades, or builds) with minimal supervision and meet set deadlines.

• Must be able to pass a basic terminology and troubleshooting exam in our office.

Desired Skills

 

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Intune, and Teams.

• Familiarity with Crestron video teleconference equipment.

 

Education and Certifications

Associate’s degree in Computer Science OR a minimum of four (4) years of directly related technical experience in lieu of a degree.

• Highly desired certifications: CompTIA A , MCP.

• Additional desired certifications: CompTIA Network , Security , MCSE, and/or CCENT.

 

Clearance

• Current security clearance or ability to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance and be able to pass a background check.

 

Working Conditions/Essential Job Functions:

• Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.

• Occasionally requires climbing, bending, reaching, crawling, and other similar actions.

• Must have the ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds unassisted.

• Must have the ability to work in an office environment, including under desks, overhead in drop ceilings, and other similar areas.

• Occasional work outside of normal business hours may be required.
