About the position
The Clinical Nurse II, Oncology is a Registered Nurse responsible for delivering direct care to assigned Oncology patients in an ambulatory setting. This role requires adherence to established standards of care, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients. The Clinical Nurse II must demonstrate competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills necessary for managing routine patient assignments independently. This includes establishing a comprehensive plan of care, setting achievable goals, determining priorities, and providing care that aligns with established standards of practice. In this position, the nurse will assess patient care needs and learning requirements for routine oncology patient populations. This involves reviewing lab diagnostic data and incorporating findings into patient assessments. The Clinical Nurse II will actively participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives aimed at maintaining or enhancing the quality of care provided to the Oncology patient population. Planning patient care and education will be based on the disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, potential complications of treatment, and the psycho-social needs of patients, in collaboration with other healthcare team members. The Clinical Nurse II will also initiate and follow through with appropriate referrals to interdisciplinary healthcare team members as needed. Proficiency in technical skills is essential, including the establishment of IV access using peripheral or central catheters per protocol, administering IV therapy as ordered by the physician, and adhering to universal precautions and body mechanics. The nurse may also assist as a chaperon when required, following completion of the necessary Chaperon Training.

Requirements
• Associate's degree/College diploma in Nursing required.

• Bachelor's degree in Science in Nursing (state-accredited program) preferred.

• California RN state license required.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.

• One (1) year of relevant ambulatory or acute care experience in the area of specialty required.
