Senior Manager DevOps and Platform Engineering

This effort will include a completely new approach to developing software within CVS Health, using the latest design approaches, technologies, and processes.The Platform Architect will play an integral role in building a holistic view and roadmap of Retail Data Engineering technology strategy and processes.
The Sr.
Manager of Platform Engineering will partner with technology teams and multiple businesses unites to manage, improve, and recommend solutions that are aligned with the Retail Data Engineering platform strategy and industry best practices.
This role will contribute to laying the foundation of future state enterprise platform capabilities.
This role will also lead various innovation efforts to serve our clients in new and innovative ways.Responsibilities:
Improving and optimizing the operational processes for the Retail Data Engineering team Manage and support a 24x7 team of Platform Operation Specialists Assist in Vendor management, communication, and technical issue resolution Manage as well as rearchitect and design for large scale hybrid cloud deployments using Kubernetes and cloud native container services Partner with senior technology staff and business leaders to act as an advisor for strategic platform planning efforts Build the long-term strategic roadmap for platform architectures in line with business priorities and objectives Maintain a holistic view of the organizations strategy, processes, information, and technology assets Help business leaders clarify their objectives and expectations for technological innovation efforts Ensure platform requirements (functional and non-functional) are met per design and architecture with alignment to business goals Reviews functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements.
Track and monitor Cloud usage for Retail Data Engineering.
Partner with Cloud FinOps on cost containment strategies.
Partner with Cloud provider for issue resolution and planningLocation:
Hybrid (work on-site every Tue & Wed) preferred in Boston/Wellesley/Woonsocket, RI area.
Will consider hybrid in Chicago, NYC, or Dallas.
Will consider 100% remote for a very strong candidate.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum:
115,000

Maximum:
230,000

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications

Proven track record of leading teams providing self-service to engineers through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation principles.
Experience with cloud migrations to Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform Expertise using cutting edge technology and automation that will be the core of operational excellence for this position Work with engineering and global support teams to ensure a unified customer experience on Azure and/or GCP Ability to think big and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology and future state platform design Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business, vendor, and technical groups Experience documenting technical and/or architecture dependencies Ability to articulate the difference in CI and CD Previous hands-on automation of applications and software through CI/CD pipeline Previous experience in Data Warehousing, Data Engineering, Big Data (ie, Hadoop), ML and BI Tools and Technologies Firm understanding of tools and capabilities including:
o Understanding of Azure and/or Google Kubernetes Service (AKS/GKS) or Azure Container Service o Configuration Management tools experience (experience with Chef or Ansible preferred) o Orchestration tool experience (Airflow, ADF, Kubeflow, and/or ctrl-m preferred) o Continuous Integration/Delivery tools combination of Gitlab/Github, Argo, Jenkins, Nexus, Twistlock, ACR/GCR/Quay o Log Management tools like Splunk or Azure Monitor and application monitoring tools like Dynatrace or Azure App Insights

Preferred Qualifications

Strong understanding of DevSecOps and ability to implement security architecture to ensure data security at rest and in transit application security (ideally in an Azure and/or GCP environment) Good understanding of setting up and optimizing SRE teams Strong drive to automate manual operations and improve them through repeated iteration Experience creating and maintaining a solution blueprint Prior experience providing Cloud cost visibility and driving cost containment strategies Graduate experience in Computer Science and/or Engineering Prior experience in Retail and/or Healthcare including Pharmacy Services

Education

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience is required
